TO EDENDALE EMI RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME, EAST SUSSEX |
Edendale EMI Residential Care Home
is situated in the seaside town of St Leonards-on-Sea, near Hastings,
in the heart of East Sussex. Located on an attractive residential
road, just minutes from the town centre and beach, Edendale
provides a home to elderly members of our community who are
no longer able to live independently. As specialists within
the EMI sector, our team of professionals (link to staff page)
are highly experienced in providing dementia care and 24 hour
support to those suffering the effects of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's,
confusion and other similar conditions. We pride ourselves
on providing a warm and loving home for our residents and
an environment which is stimulating yet peaceful and dignified.
We were one of the first care homes in St Leonards-on-Sea,
Hastings and Eastbourne to be named as a 'preferred provider'
by East Sussex County Council.
Edendale EMI Residential Care Home
is a registered member of CSCI, the principal regulatory
body for the care industry. We welcome male and female residents
of 55 years and over and place no restrictions on religious practices
or pets, provided they do not disturb others. We provide long
term care and short term respite care to not only residents originating
from the local area, but also those from London, Kent (Tunbridge
Wells) and all other regions of the UK who are prepared to live
with us in East Sussex. Prior to new residents joining us, we
carry out a full assessment of their needs, preferences, medical
condition and personality. On arrival, our staff make every effort
to settle a new-comer into the home, a process which can be disorientating
for an elderly individual unless handled with genuine care and
concern.

More about our EMI care home |
| BY ANDREA FETTIPLACE,
REGISTERED MANAGER |
For over 18 years, myself and the staff at Edendale
have been committed to providing the highest level of care
to elderly individuals suffering from mental illnesses. Our care
home for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other similar conditions
has established an excellent reputation throughout nearby areas
such as Eastbourne, Lewes and Brighton PLUS further a field in
the London boroughs, Kent (Tonbridge, Sevenoaks & Tunbridge
Wells) and many other regions of the UK.
Edendale is run as a 'home', not an institution. One of our principle
aims is to maintain the dignity and self-respect of our residents,
many of whom may be suffering from personal issues such as loss
of memory or severe confusion and incontinence. We work alongside
local doctors and nurses to facilitate the physical, mental and
emotional needs of those living here. It is, and has always been,
my aim to provide a warm, loving environment for all of our residents;
an environment in which they feel safe, secure and comfortable.
We cater to the individual needs of each resident and strive towards
creating a peaceful yet stimulating atmosphere for one and all.
We take great pleasure in supporting our residents in making progress
towards greater contentment and personal wellbeing and we feel
great satisfaction from this valuable work. At Edendale our relationship
extends to each individual family. Visits from loved ones are
encouraged and facilitated and, in some cases, residents may be
accompanied by their pets.
Throughout the years, I have witnessed a number of changes
in policy and regulations within the care sector. We have readily
met these recommendations and continually achieved standards
of excellence in our inspection reports from the CSCI (Commission
for Social Care Inspection). As a result, Edendale upholds a
strong reputation within London and the South East and healthy
working relationships with our local authorities & inspectorates
as we work towards a common goal - maintaining high care standards
across the board! In April 2007, our home was officially acknowledged
as a 'Preferred Provider' by East Sussex County Council, an
achievement of which I am very proud and which is testament
to the ongoing commitment of my staff.
